About The Get Out Project
The Get Out Project was created under the guise that we all need to get out and move! Whether you were a seasoned athlete, a weekend warrior, or an individual that wants to go from “couch to 5k”, the Get Out Project and the Get Out Project Race Series can accommodate your goals and visions!
“Getting off of the couch” can be an intimidating thought! We have found that when most people think about exercise, they picture races, biking 100 miles, working up a sweat, or those people that are always running (you know, the ones that don’t smile). The Get Out Project disagrees with the notion that the aforementioned activities are the only form of exercise. We know that there are literally a million different ways to “Get Out” and exercise! Our goal at the Get Out Project is to give people ideas and reasons to get out and MOVE! Here are a few very basic ideas that you can try for 30 minutes a day:
- Take sweetie pie by the hand and go for a brisk walk outside
- Grab a partner and go dancing
- Take a hike at a local park (Duluth has trails everywhere)
- Swim, water ski, canoe
- Try ice-skating, cross country skiing, or snowshoeing
- Play tennis or walk the golf course
- Ride your bicycle outside
- Garden or rake your yard (or mine)
Okay, so you see what we are getting at—Get Out! It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you put down the remote and get your heart rate up, breathe in the fresh air, and move your muscles! Eventually you’ll be ready to try that 5k run/walk or triathlon. When you get to that point, let us know and we’ll tell you all about the Get Out Project Race Series
